I live in Southern California with my wife and our two kids, Jiya, who's 5, and Sai, who's 8. And these days, when I'm not coaching, building CareerSprout or thinking way too much about people's careers, I'm usually spending time with them.
Playing sports. Having H.O.R.S.E. tournaments in the pool. Helping them with their homework. Putting music on way too loud and having impromptu dance parties in our living room, stepping on their toys way more than I would like to admit or watching them do something completely ordinary and wondering how the heck they're growing up so quickly.
Our life isn't particularly spectacular. But it's very special to me.
And strangely enough, that life is also a big reason CareerSprout exists.
Because my life didn't always look like this.
My family immigrated to the United States from Africa when I was 5 years old.
My dad had a ninth-grade education, struggled with English, and had an incredibly difficult time finding work.
So he started a small printing business and for the first 6 years, he never once made more than $1,200 per month, which forced my mom (who was college educated) to work two jobs to help keep our family afloat.
Suffice it to say, money was constantly tight.
We lived in a low-income neighborhood where drugs, gang violence, robberies and crime weren’t abstract things you heard about on television.
They were around us.
And for a very long time, I carried that feeling of lack with me.
Then I started my own career…
…and I wasn’t exactly an overnight success story.
During my first six years in the workforce, I had 10 different jobs.
At one point I genuinely started believing:
Eventually I helped build a staffing company. It didn’t even turn a profit for the first 17 months and I almost quit three different times.
That company grew to this before being acquired. In 2017, after the acquisition, I became one of the youngest executives at a publicly traded company.
At the same time, I started CareerSprout.
And once I finally felt like I had cracked the code on how careers, opportunities, relationships, positioning and compensation actually worked…
I couldn’t stop thinking about all the people who were still where I had once been.
Not because I think everyone needs to become wealthy.
Not because I believe your net worth determines your worth.
And certainly not because I think success is about accumulating more stuff.
It’s because I know what having options can change.
We’ve even had the privilege of helping fund two schools in Africa. An all girls school and another school from K–6.
Sometimes I disappear into the middle of nowhere to reflect, think, build.
Or more often than not, I’m off-roading all over the country when I get a chance.
And sometimes the four of us are incredibly fortunate to see parts of the world that 10-year-old me never would have imagined seeing.

Options. Security. Experiences. Generosity. Time with people you love. And the ability to help someone else move forward because somebody once helped you.
That’s why I care so much about careers.
Because sometimes one opportunity really can change the trajectory of someone’s life.

It happened to me. I’ve watched it happen for hundreds of people I’ve coached. These smiles of my past clients keep me going. I love helping them achieve whatever abundance means to them.
It’s not just me. We’re a small dedicated team with a big mission. And we’ll be here to support you every step of the way.
With a track record of driving operational excellence at Salesforce, CDK Global, and Amazon, I have spent over 15 years leading cross-functional teams and transforming customer operations. Having scaled teams from the ground up, designed enterprise-wide training initiatives, and coached talent into promotions, I find my greatest purpose in empowering others to succeed. That desire to support and build up those around me extends to every part of my life, and nothing brings me more pride than my family—my incredible wife and three kids.
Nicey has spent decades getting in front of executives who'd never met her and turning that first meeting into trust — from Fortune 500 sales floors at Eli Lilly (two-time President's Council Award winner, top 2% of employees) to health system and skilled-nursing C-suites, where she secured $1M+ in government funding and scaled a partnership to 300+ care facilities nationally with endorsements from 12+ healthcare associations. She's a certified executive coach who has run her own consulting practice for nearly 20 years, advising entrepreneurs and startup founders on go-to-market and partnership strategy, and was hand-picked by the University of Washington's CoMotion program to design and lead its 12-week Group Coaching for Founders cohort. Earlier in her career she did recruiting both at Eli Lilly and later as an independent consultant, and has trained sales teams for decades; she's worked both sides of the table, which is exactly the vantage point interview-prep and outreach clients need. She was a paying Career Sprout client herself before joining the team, so she coaches from having sat exactly where her clients sit.
Amber has worked across tech, marketing, and media, including at a global tech company and for a marketing agency on Fortune 500 brand accounts. Her work has always been about making sure the people she's working with have what they need to move forward. Before joining Career Sprout, she went through the program herself and hasn't forgotten what it feels like to be the one deciding to bet on yourself. And she brings that experience into how she works with every person in this program. When she's not working, she's probably mid-knitting project, on the tennis court, or somewhere new in the world with a good book.
